The clockwork has been milled into the back, which means it is flush with the wood. This means it can be easily mounted on the wall.
Interesting facts about ash wood:
Ash wood is very versatile and was often used for tool handles, ski production, etc.
Today, ash wood is also used in furniture construction, interior design, parquet floors, step construction, etc.
The proportion of ash trees in Austria's forests is relatively low (approx. 1%) and the ash population is under severe threat from an introduced fungus.
But don't worry, this ash tree wasn't felled for this beautiful clock ;)
Ash wood is considered to be rather heavy and hard, tough and elastic.
The ash tree can be found at heights of up to 1,200 meters and can live up to 250 years. It can grow up to 40 meters tall and reach a trunk diameter of 2 meters. The ash tree also has its place in Nordic mythology (Yggdrasil, the world ash tree).
The wood of this clock is light and warm - and yet has been individually shaped by a former "subtenant" and is absolutely unique.
